MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 for Chester Fitzgerald Adams, 85, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 in Lake Charles, LA surrounded by his loving family.
Father Billy Massie will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.
Burial will take place in the New St. Ann’s Mausoleum.
Chester retired from the United States Army in 1987 as a Master Drill Sergeant E8 after serving 23 years. He did three tours of duty, two during the Vietnam War and one during the Korean War. After retiring from the Army, Chester worked at Citgo in Lake Charles for several years as plant operator. He then went on the work for Williams Company for several years.
Chester was a loving husband to his wife Gertrude until she preceded him in death in 1996. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to all. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved gardening, farming, and hunting. He loved reading and watching cowboy movies. He was an avid Saints fan. Chester will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his four sons; Vincent Paul Ceaser, Jr. and wife, Melva, John Ricky Ceaser, Ronald Wayne Ceaser, Julius Ceaser; two daughters, Debbie Ambrose and Laura Guillory; twelve grandchildren; twenty-seven great grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded by his parents; his wife, Gertrude Fontenot Adams; granddaughter, Jeri Richard; six brothers, Joseph, Felton, Dallas, Leroy, Horace, Antoine; three sisters, Tonia, Mable and Geneva; and son-in-law, Floyd Guillory.
The family requests that visitation will be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 from 11:00 AM-2:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 1:00 PM.
Pallbearers are Chadwick Joe, Joseph Shane Chretien, Aubrey Shorter, Callow Adams, Ronald Ceaser, and John Ricky Ceaser. Honorary Pallbearers are Vincent Ceaser, Julius Ceaser, Dylan Chretien, and Eric McKay.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Heart of Hospice for their compassionate care extended to Chester in his last days, his niece Tracy Richardson, and Ardoin’s Funeral Home.
