MAMOU-A Mass of Christian Burial for Arvin Joe Soileau, 83, will be Celebrated Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anns Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of Committal followed in the Platin Cemetery with Father Sibley officiating.
Mr. Arvin Joe Soileau, a native of Mamou and a resident of the Vidrine Community, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2008 at the Savoy Care Center. He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served in World WarII.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Joe is survived by his loving wife, Maryilyn M. Soileau; a loving son, James C. Soileau; two loving daughters, Donna S. Fontenot and husband, Vorance Glen, and Nancy Kay Soileau, all of the Vidrine Community; one brother, Rollan Soileau of Mamou; a sister, Dorothy Schuff of Moss Bluff; five grandchildren, Melissa LeRoy, Jessica Dixon, Mary Jo Norris, Sarah Beth, McGee, and Jared Paul Soileau; and five great grandchildren, Zachary Glyn LeRoy, Ty Austin Norris, Brandon Dale Norris, Jacob Ryan Dixon, and Jesalyne Dixon.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Curtis and Lula Soileau; two sisters, Una May Mayeaux and infant Barbara Dean Soileau; and three brothers, Williard Soileau, Durffy Soileau, and Burkman Soileau.
The Family request that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday, September 23, 2008 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and again on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 from 8:00 a.m. until Services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.
Ardoins Funeral Home of Mamou is in charge of arrangements.
