Ava Maria Raymond Gradney, a beloved beautician for 25 years, passed away on Friday, August 2, 2024, in Mamou, Louisiana. Born in New Orleans, on Friday, February 27, 1948, Ava touched the lives of many through her skills and generosity. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou, Louisiana on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery with Father Billy Massie officiating services.
In addition to her successful career as a beautician, Ava took pride in her commitment to learning and proudly earned an Associate’s Degree.
Those who knew Ava understood that her family held the most significant place in her heart. She cherished moments spent with her children and took immense joy in the presence of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her nurturing personality and love will forever resonate within the family she leaves behind.
Among her hobbies and interests were making jelly and jam, gardening, and sewing - activities through which she expressed her creativity, generosity, and care for others.
Ava had a great love for animals, which she held dear to her heart. Her dedication to her furry friends was just one example of the kindness that filled her life.
Ava's memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her including her loving husband of 56 years, Louis B. Gradney; one daughter, Michelle Jeffery and husband, Terry of Carencro; two sons, Burnel Gradney of Grand Coteau and Christopher Gradney and wife, Agatha of Carencro; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Nicholas, Madelyn, and Isabella; and three great grandchildren, Zora, Zion, and Theodore. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her sister, Brenda LeBlanc and brothers, Frederick Raymond, Kenneth Raymond, Mark Raymond, and Jeffery Raymond.
She now rests with her parents, Frederick and Joyce Chapital Raymond and brother, Brian Raymond.
Services to honor and remember Ava Maria Gradney will take place on Saturday, August 10, 2024. A Visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by the recitation of a rosary by Brenda LeBlanc.
In honoring Ava's life, let us celebrate the legacy she has left behind and the warmth she brought into the lives of those around her. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
Pallbearers for Ava's service will include Burnel Gradney, Christopher Gradney, Terry Jeffery, Nicholas Jeffery, Jordan Arceneaux, Alverez Chapital. Honorary pallbearers are Spencer J. LeBlanc, Brian Paul Raymond, Jr., Johnathan M. Tapia, Lincoln Noel, Lee West Harris, Dwayne Chapital and Frankie Deculus.
