MAMOUIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Avie Joseph Fuselier, 96, announces his passing on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Savoy Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of Committal will follow at the New St. Ann Mausoleum with Father Mark Melancon as celebrant.
Mr. Fuselier was a WWII Veteran having served in the United States Navy. He was also the owner and operator of City Barber Shop in Mamou for over 50 years. A loving father, grandfather and friend, Avie will be remembered by his daughter, Kay Long and husband, Spencer of Mamou two grandchildren, Monique Conway and husband, Steve of Prairieville, and Gary Maus and wife, Leslie of Baton Rouge five great grandchildren and one greatgreat grandchild.
He now rests in heaven with his beloved wife, Nelwin A. Fuselier parents, Ortere and Marie Fuselier daughter and son inlaw, Carole Maus and husband, John and grandchild, Michelle Maus.
The family request that visiting hours be observed Tuesday, March 15, 2011 from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm, and again on Wednesday, March 16, 2011 from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 pm Tuesday evening.
