MAMOU-Funeral Services will be held at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Saturday, August 17, 2019, for Berdine Mayeaux, 89, who passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 at Oak Lane Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center in Eunice.
Father Hampton Davis, Pastor of St. Anthony Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and will conduct all funeral services.
Burial will take place in New St. Ann’s Cemetery.
Berdine Mayeaux was born in Mamou, LA on December 8, 1929, she was the daughter of Lindsey and Lizzie Dupre. Berdine graduated from high school on May 13, 1946, she graduated with a history award. She married Anward Mayeaux, Sr. on September 18, 1946. In 1960 she suffered her first of several strokes. She was told she would never walk and talk again. Her determination and willingness to rehabilitate herself is what has kept her going all these years. In 1975 after raising their four children, Berdine attended TH Harris where she earned her CNA certificate. She was a strong, determined, loving woman with a great sense of humor. You always knew what was on her mind, because she was sure to let you know. She loved her family immensely, especially her children, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her children, Anward Mayeaux, Jr. and wife Pris of Eunice, Louisiana, Floretta Broussard and husband Wallace of Carencro, Louisiana, and Cheryl Richard and husband Ricky of Bridge City, Texas; daughter in law, Robin Mayeaux of Plaisance, Louisiana; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 9 great-great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Lindsey and Lizzie Dupre; her loving husband, Anward Mayeaux, Sr.; her son, Todd Mayeaux; and one brother, Burtney Dupre.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Chuck Ortego at 6:00PM on Friday. Visitation will resume on Saturday, August 17, 2019 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
Serving as pallbearers will be Billy Storms, Michael Storms, Jeremy Storms, Ryan Mayeaux, Anward Mayeaux, III, Brock Mayeaux, and Chaz Mayeaux.
The family would like to thank Heart of Hospice, and the staff of Oaklane Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their loving care given to her the last several years of her life.
