Carrie Soileau

Carrie Lou Fontenot Soileau, a lifelong resident of Mamou, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 12, 2025, in her hometown, at the age of 98. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the New St. Ann’s Mausoleum with Father Billy Massie officiating the service.

Carrie Soileau was born in Mamou, Louisiana on Thursday, June 24, 1926. Carrie’s life centered around her family who meant the world to her. She dedicated her life to nurturing and supporting them with unwavering love. Carrie was a devoted housewife, finding her greatest joy in caring for her husband and their three children.

As a remarkable cook and baker, Carrie delighted in preparing meals and sharing them with those she loved. She could cook everything, and her kitchen was always filled with warmth and laughter, creating a space where memories were made and cherished.

Carrie's personality shone through her loving and caring nature. She had a remarkable ability to ensure that everyone around her felt cared for, always striving to meet the needs of others. Her greatest pride came with the birth of her grandchild, Lillian, an event that filled her heart with endless joy and was a testament to her commitment to family.

Carrie is survived by her three children, Christine Soileau, Peter Soileau (Jacque), and Keith Soileau (Patricia); grandchild, Lillian Soileau; and a special nephew, David Fontenot.

Carrie is preceded in death by her loving husband, George F. Soileau; parents, Avince and Alcina Guillory Fontenot; brother, Jerry Fontenot; and sisters, Hazel Evans, Verna Mae Fontenot, and Barbara Fontenot. 

Friends and family are invited to honor and celebrate Carrie's life and the impact she has had on so many on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, starting at 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at Ardoin's Funeral Home, located at 717 6th St, Mamou, LA. A rosary will be recited at 1:00 PM.

As we bid farewell to Carrie, we remember a life filled with love, family, and dedication to those dear to her. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she loved.
