MAMOUIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Daily Doc Dupr, Jr. announces his passing on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at his residence in Lafayette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Monday, February 14, 2011 at 10:00 am at St. Anns Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of Committal will follow in the New St. Ann Cemetery with Father Mark Melancon Celebrant.
Daily known as Doc to all who knew him was a graduate of Chataignier High and USL. He was a Board member of Meaningful Minds of Louisiana as well as a member of NAMI, YCE, The Extra Mile, and a State President of Confident. He had a passion for French music and was a volunteer French dance instructor. He was a descendant of the late Lawrence Walker, the French accordionist.
Doc was a loving father, brother, grandfather, and friend who will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind his daughter, Dana Anne Dupr Sturgis and husband, Bill of Mire his five sisters, Laura Rozas and husband, Bruce of Mamou, Jeanette Dupr of Lake Charles, Nancy Thompson and husband, Landie of Chataignier, Marsha Trahan and husband, Lawrence of Lafayette and Carolyn Allemand and husband, Tim of Prairie Rhonde. He was blessed with three grandchildren, Ian, Hannah and Avery Sturgis as well as numerous nephews and nieces.
Now he rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Daily and Renolla Sensat Dupr.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Mamou on Sunday, February 13th from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm and again on Monday, February 14th from 8:00 am until time of services. Lear Deshotel will recite a Rosary at 6:00 pm Sunday evening.
