Danzel Marcantel, Sr.

MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou, Louisiana on Saturday, February 5, 2022, for Danzel D. Marcantel, Sr., 81, who passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2022.

Pastor Brian Dore will conduct funeral services.

Danzel proudly served his country in the US Army having served in Germany, Korea, and two tours in Vietnam.  After retirement he served his community working in law enforcement as a deputy and detective with the Evangeline Parish Sherriff’s Office and Warden of the Basile Prison.  He loved woodworking, camping, and fishing.  His family and friends will miss his dearly.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 61 years, Barbara Marcantel; son, Danzel Marcantel, Jr. of Mamou; three grandchildren, Kristy Thibodeaux, Trey Marcantel, and Logan Marcantel, six great grandchildren, Kaygun Fontenot, Kaylin Marcantel, Blayklee Thibodeaux, A’nah Thibodeaux, Ainsley Marcantel, and Layne Davis Marcantel; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kirby and Mary Vezinat Marcantel; sister, Priscilla Marcantel Tate; brothers, Elbert Marcantel and Manford Marcantel; and two nieces.

The family requests that a visitation be held on Friday, February 4, 2022, beginning at 11:00 AM until 5:00 PM at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou.  Visitation will resume Saturday, February 5, 2022, beginning at 8:00 AM until time of service.
