Dora Jane Aucoin Morton

Dora Jane Aucoin Morton, a warm-hearted soul who brought joy to the lives she touched, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025, in Mamou, Louisiana, at the age of 63. Born on December 1, 1961, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Dora was known for her genuine kindness and her unwavering love for her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, at 1:00 pm with Father Massie officiating over the services.

She found delight in life's simple pleasures, whether it was enjoying a refreshing Coke or savoring a bowl of Napolitan Ice Cream. Her love for the color pink was a reflection of her joyful personality, and she was rarely seen without her warm smile.

Dora had a passion for crossword puzzles, which showed her sharp mind and inquisitive nature. She also enjoyed the thrill of playing bingo, where her competitive spirit shone through, always accompanied by her infectious enthusiasm.

Dora is survived by her loving family, including her brother, Joel Aucoin Jr., niece, Dana LaChapelle, and a host of great nephews, Dylon, Mark, and Marcus LaChapelle, alongside her great niece, Kelsey LaChapelle, and great-great nephew, Torryn LaChapelle. She is also remembered fondly by her goddaughter, Kristina Granger, who cherished the bond they shared.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joel Mark Aucoin Sr. and Lorain Guillory Aucoin.

Visitations will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Thursday, February 6, 2025, beginning at 9:00 am until the time of the service.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Savoy Heights, Savoy Care Center and Louisiana Hospice and Palliative Care for the love and compassion showed to Mrs. Dora.
