MAMOU- It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Douglas"Neg" Gradney,69, announces his passing on Saturday, February 28, 2015. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of Committal will follow in the Ceaser Cemetery with Father Thainese as Celebrant.
Douglas will be greatly missed and leaves to cherish his loving memories, one son, Terry Gradney and wife, Pauline, two daughters, Angela LeDee, Nichole Williams and husband, Bennie ,one brother Joseph Calvin Gradney and wife, Jeanette; six grandchildren, Christian, Hayden, Caleb, Chelsea, Kami and Savanna; step son, Jerry Williams and seven step-grandchildren, Brandon, Kyra, Tyler, Collin and Stephanie, and Hailie.
Doulas grew up in the Pineywoods-Beaver area. As a young man he joined The United States Army where he fought in the Vietnam War. He then returned to Oakdale,La in the 1970's. He also worked in the rice fields in Reddell, La. In his later years he moved to Arlington, TX where he became a truck driver; after some time he moved to Houston to continue his truck driving career for over 30 years.
He will now reunite in Heaven with his parents, Joseph "Buck: Gradney and Mary Sonnier ;his grandparents, O'Decio and Philomane Gradney and Pierre Curtis "Bobby" Gradney.
We would like to express our sincere appreciation for everything to our Uncle Calvin and Aunt Jeanette and Uncle Eli and Aunt Anna Bell Deculus.
.The family requested that visiting hours be observed on Friday, March 6, 2015 from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm . The Funeral Home will reopen on Saturday, at 7:00 a.m. until time of services. A Rosary will be recited by Father Thainese on Friday evening at 6:15 p.m.
