MAMOUIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Dr. Frank P. Savoy, Jr. announces his passing on Friday, August 27, 2010 at American Legion Hospital in Crowley. He was 86. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 1:30 pm on Monday, August 30, 2010 at St. Anns Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in the Old St. Ann Cemetery with Father Jude Thierry and Father Cedric Sonnier Celebrants.

Dr. Frank Savoy, Jr. was a lifelong resident of Mamou and in 1942 he married Bobby Rawls and after completing his medical studies at LSU they returned to Mamou and he began practicing with his father. In 1950 they opened Savoy Hospital with eight beds and later expanded to a hundred and eighty five beds becoming Savoy Medical Center. One of his last fulfilled dreams was to build the Frank P. Savoy, Jr. Cancer Center. He was an active civic leader and avid deep sea sport fisherman. He lived his life on the premise Its more blessed to give than receive.

He leaves behind a loving and grateful family including his lovely wife of 68 years, Bobby Rawls Savoy of Eunice his three sons, Peter Savoy and his wife, Cathy of Mamou, David Savoy and his wife, Rhonda of Crosby, TX and Jason Savoy of Mamou his two daughters, Chyrl Savoy of Youngsville and Sunny Savoy Perez and husband, Ernesto of Monterrey, Mexico his brother, Dr. Gregory Savoy and wife, Vicky of Mamou seventeen grandchildren, Shelly, Danielle, Frankie, Dayla, Ariane, David, Shauney, Shayna, Sasha, Shelby, Joey, Luciano, Alfredo, Franny, Jason, Hailey and Miguel and two great grandchildren, Abigail and Cash.

He now rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Dr. Frank and Edna Robin Savoy, Sr. and a sister, Joycelyn S. Prescott.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Mamou on Sunday, August 29th from 3:00 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Monday, August 30th from 8:00 am until time of services. Deacon Roderick Perron will recite a Rosary at 8:00 pm Sunday evening.
