Floretta Faye (Mayeaux) Broussard

Floretta Faye (Mayeaux) Broussard, 75, peacefully passed away at her home in Lafayette, Louisiana on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, surrounded by her family. Flo was born in Ville Platte, Louisiana on October 18, 1949 to Berdine and Anward Joseph Mayeaux, Sr. Funeral services will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Monday, April 21,2025, at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow at New St. Ann’s Mausoleum with Deacon Chuck Ortego officiating the service.

Following high school graduation, Flo attended Northwestern State University, in Natchitoches, LA where she majored in education. Flo was an elementary school teacher at the Evangeline Academy in Vidrine Louisiana. Following the school closure, she continued teaching as a substitute teaching throughout Evangeline Parish. Flo worked in real estate for over 20 years as a transaction coordinator, plus many other duties. Some would call her a jack of all trades, as she was not one to just sit, she had to keep moving. A protective and stubborn individual, she stood by her loved ones with fierce loyalty. Flo was a devoted, wife, mother, grandmother, Godmother, Aunt, sister and friend to everyone she met. Flo enjoyed spending time with her family, going to her grandchildren's sports events, dancing to Cajun music, camping, cooking and sitting by the campfire. She enjoyed the outdoors. Flo was a devout Catholic; she was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church.

She is survived by her three sons, William G. Storms (Bridgette), Jeremy Storms, Michael Storms (Lacy); two stepsons, Billy Wayne Broussard (Stacy) and Kevin James Broussard. Her only sister, Cheryl Mayeaux Richard (Rickey), two sisters in law, which were more like sisters, Priscilla Fontenot Mayeaux and Robin Carriere Mayeaux. Eleven grandchildren, Logan Storms, Brennen Storms, Hollynn Storms, Misti Fontenot, Krista Vidrine (Joel), Erica McPhatter (Brett), Camryn Pomier, Payton Broussard, Amber Broussard, Brandon West, Karmen Broussard; seven great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.

Flo is preceded in death by her first husband, William G. Storms, Jr, her spouse of 23 years, Wallace Joseph Broussard, Jr. (Gator) her parents, Berdine and Anward Joseph Mayeaux, Sr. her two brothers, Anward Joseph Mayeaux, Jr. and Todd John Mayeaux.

A visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Monday, April 21, 2025, beginning at 9:00 AM until the time of service.

Pallbearers for the service will be William G. Storms, III, Jeremy Storms, Michael Storms, Brennen Storms, Rickey Richard, Billy Broussard and Honorary Pallbearer will be Anward Mayeaux, III.
