MAMOUIt is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of George Edward Soileau announces his passing on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at his residence in Mamou surrounded by his loved ones. He was 77. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, March 17, 2012 at St.Ann Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of Committal will follow in the New St. Ann Cemetery with Father Mitchell Guidry as Celebrant.
George was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, having proudly served in the Korean War. After retiring from the oilfield, he worked at Savoy Medical Center as a security guard. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend, George leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of fifty five years, Jane Deshotel Soileau of Mamou two daughters, Vicky Soileau Tate and husband, Randel of Mandeville, and Connie Soileau Aucoin and husband, Neal of Opelousas brother, Wilson Soileau and wife, Eula Mae of Port Barre sister, Bertha Joubert and husband, Don of Opelousas four grandchildren, Kelli Aucoin Thibodeaux of Opelousas, Christopher Miles Aucoin of Sugarland, TX, Lauren Marie Aucoin of Chicago, IL, and Christopher Ryan Tate of Mandeville and three great grandchildren, Lucas James Thibodeaux of Opelousas, Noah Miles Aucoin and Perrin Ali Aucoin, both of Sugarland, TX. He will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He now joins in Heaven his beloved parents, Edovic and Ezor Soileau.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Mamou on Friday, March 16, 2012 from 10:00 am until 10:00 pm, and again on Saturday, March 17, 2012 from 8:00 am until time of Services. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 pm Friday evening.
