Mamou- A Mass of Christian Burial for Gladys Lafleur, 94, will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Anns Catholic Church in Mamou, La. Father Pius will officiate at the services. Burial will follow in the New St. Anns Cemetery.

Mrs. Lafleur, a resident of Mamou, died on February 4, 2008 at Savoy Medical Center after an extended illness.

She is survived by three daughters, Lou Fontenot of Lafayette, Belva Soileau of Lake Charles, and Jenny Ardoin of Mamou; one son, Gerald Lafleur and wife, Sue of Eunice; also several step-children; 17 grandchildren; 36 great grandchildren; 9 great-great grandchildren; three sisters, Mary Virgin Rivers of Dequincy, Gertaline Albarez of Donaldsonville, and Ella Rose Frump of Gonzales; two brothers, Chester Fontenot of Mamou, and J.D. Fontenot of Texas.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Artemon Lafleur; a daughter, Dorothy Dupre; two son-in-laws, Daniel Fontenot and Lee Soileau; a grandson, Benny Dupre; a great-grandson Aaron Ross Duncan; a sister, Murdis Fuselier; one brother, Vorance Fontenot; and her second husband, Aluid Tate.

Ms. Gladys was known for her wonderful sense of Cajun humor, which her whole family delighted in, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had an exceptional love for everyone she met and everyone loved her. The family wishes to thank her wonderful doctors, Dr. Rodriguez, Dr. Murdock, Dr. Greg Savoy, and Dr. Clark. Also her loving and compassionate nursing staff in ICU, especially Karen, Aline, David O., David L., and Harvey who helped us in so many ways during our mothers long stay in ICU. She also had a special grandson, Dr. Reggie Ardoin, who so lovingly guided her family so patiently during our mothers so serious illness. We love you Reggie and all her doctors and nurses.

Visitation will begin Wednesday, February 6, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and will reopen Thursday, February 7, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday evening.
