Glenda Deshotel

MAMOU – Funeral Services will be held at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Wednesday, February 12, 2020, for Glenda F. Deshotel, 72, who passed away peacefully on February 9, 2020 surrounded by her loving family.

Father Billy Massie, pastor of St. Ann’s Catholic Church, will conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in New St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Glenda F. Deshotel was born in Mamou, LA on June 28, 1947 to Richard and Geraldine Fournerat.  She was the manager of Young’s Supermarket for several years.  She went to work as a Special Education Paraprofessional for many years where she retired from Mamou High School.  Glenda had a green thumb and loved working in her flower garden.  Her favorite flower was Birds of Paradise.  She loved selflessly without condition. She had the ability to make a person feel like family. She knew no strangers and touched the lives of her family and friends with her kind and loving ways. Glenda was loved and adored by so many and she will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, Jimmy Deshotel; daughter, Vickie Deshotel; sons, Kevin Deshotel and wife Kristie and Steven Deshotel; grandchildren, Ashley Broussard and husband Bernard Senseney, Macy Monterlaro and husband Kip, Natalie Balfa and husband Chase, Kourtnie Deshotel, and Tobie Deshotel; great-grandchildren, Lakelynn, Vanna Faye, Zane and Knox; and brother, Kenneth James Fournerat.

She is preceded in death by her parents Richard and Geraldine Fournerat; sisters, Betty Lanthier and Sandra Chapman; and brother, Spencer Fournerat.

The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Tuesday, February 11, 2020 from 9:00 AM until 10:00 PM.  A rosary will be recited by Deacon Chuck Ortego at 6:00 PM on Tuesday. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
