MAMOU-Funeral Services will be held at a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou on Saturday, June 30, 2018, for Gloria Mae Bergeron, 83, who passed away on Thursday, June 28.
Father Billy Massie, Pastor at St. Ann's Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and will conduct all funeral services.
Burial will take place in the New St. Ann's Cemetery in Mamou.
Gloria Mae Bergeron, a lifelong resident of Mamou, was born November 24, 1934 to Zelien and Lelma Fontenot. She had a strong Catholic faith that led her to serve as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Ann's Catholic Church where she was a parishioner. On May 10, 1953, Gloria married Milton Bergeron and together they raised seven children. Gloria began her working career as a waitress and eventually she and Milton bought the restaurant naming it Bergeron's Restaurant. Later they also opened Bergeron's Stop and Shop until they closed the store and opened Kid's Korner Day Care in its place with their two daughters. Gloria, known as "Maw B" by the many children she took care of, was a very kind and caring person and will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all that knew her.
She is survived by her sons: Michael J. Bergeron, Donald J. Bergeron and wife Mary, Richard P. Bergeron and wife Jennifer, and Wayne A. Bergeron and wife Phoebe; daughters Gwen M. Bergeron and Patricia Fontenot and husband Wilfred, and brother Elzie "LZ" Fontenot and wife Jane. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her 21 grandchildren: Suzette, T-Mike, Shawn, Shana, Kristi, Regina, Sunny Beth, Abby, Scott, Derrick, Jada, Joseph, Thorr, Trevor, Trey, Kayla, Kevin, Christopher, Jonathon, Brittany, and Jacob; 33 great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren.
Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Zelien and Lelma Fontenot, husband Milton Bergeron, Sr. and son, Milton Bergeron, Jr.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Mamou on Friday, June 29, 2018 from 1:00 PM until 10:00 PM. A rosary will be recited by Deacon Chuck Ortego at 6:00 PM Friday evening. Visitation will resume on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
