Harry Joseph Balfa, Jr.

February 22, 1951 — December 17, 2024

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou, LA for Harry Joseph Balfa, Jr., with the burial to follow at New St. Ann’s Cemetery with Father Massie presiding over the service.

Harry Joseph Balfa, Jr. peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024, at the age of 73, surrounded by his beloved family. Born on February 22, 1951, in Mamou, Louisiana, Harry embraced life with a spirit of adventure and warmth that influenced all who crossed his path.

Harry found his true calling as a pipe liner, a career that not only provided for his family but also brought him to the quaint town of Cushing, Oklahoma where he discovered a community that he grew to love. Admiring Cushing so much, he made the decision to make Cushing his home for the last 12 years, knowing that this special place had captured his heart.

As a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and great friend, he was deeply committed to his family. His spirit of service extended beyond just blood ties; he exemplified the meaning of community by living as a devout Christian, always eager to lend a helping hand and share kindness with those around him.

Harry's interests reflected his adventurous soul. He loved to ride motorcycles, travel far and wide, and explore the treasures found in gardening, antiquing, and flea markets. His admiration for old tractors was matched only by the joy he found in simple pleasures. His laughter will be forever echoed in the hearts of his family and friends, who will hold onto the treasured memories they shared.

He is survived by a loving family: his very special companion, Wanda Woodrell; his daughter, Bridget Balfa; granddaughters, Stevie Kay Ashford and Shai Balfa; and great grandchildren, Briah Ashford, Rylan Tate, Lucas Ashford, and Bronson Ashford. His legacy continues through his cherished sisters, Cynthia Trimble, Melissa Leggett, and Naomi Nero, as well as brothers, Charles Balfa, John Balfa, and Timothy Balfa (Cindy). He leaves behind a loyal four-legged friend, Jax, who was always by his side.

Harry was preceded by his son, Benjamin Balfa, and his beloved parents, Harry Joseph Balfa, Sr. and Mildred Israel.
