Mr. Howard N. Fontenot, born October 19, 1924, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 7, 2017. As a retired farmer, WWII veteran, past Vice President at the Basile Rice Dryer, as well as chairman of the deacon body at First Baptist Church Mamou, he led an honored life.

He is survived by his wife, Oberia Clark Fontenot; sons, Dennis Lee Fontenot, Roland Paul Fontenot and Howard Gregg Fontenot; and daughters, Sharon Luke, Sue Smith and Deborah Kelley. He is also survived by three siblings, Cecelia Vidrine, Lessie Guillory and Hay Fontenot, as well as, numerous grand and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his former wife, Ruth Duplechain Fontenot; son, Charles Wayne; and two brothers, Isom Fontenot and Autry Lee Fontenot.

The visitation will be held on Thursday, February 9, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Mamou. It will continue on Friday, February 10, 2017 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

A Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2017 at First Baptist Church Mamou (820 8th St. Mamou, LA 70554). Pastor Irvin Goodman will officiate. Burial will follow at Te Mamou Cemetery (Hwy 167, Ville Platte, LA 70586).
