MAMOU - Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at 1:00 pm for Jack V. Reed, 96 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou. Burial will follow in the New St. Ann's Cemetery with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.
He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in WWII. Jack was Retired from the oil field, inducted into the Louisiana High School Boxing Hall of fame, a coach at Sacred Heart in the 50's, he was also a horse trainer and breeder.
Jack will be greatly missed by his wife, Leonie Reed of Mamou; one son, Bobbie Jack and wife Bonita of Lafayette; eight step-children; three grandchildren, Craig Reed, Claudia Reed and Mitchell Reed; numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Evora Pickens Reed; his first wife, Bonita Ardoin Reed; three brothers, Richard, Lionel and Donald Reed; two sisters, Dorothy Duplechain and Willie Agnes Bragg. At the request of the Reed family, visitation will take place at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou on Monday, January 11, 2016 from 12:30 pm until 8:00 pm.Tuesday from 8:00 until time of services .A rosary will be recited in his honor Monday evening at 6:00 pm.
