MAMOU- It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Jerry R. "Blackie" Fontenot, 70, announces his passing on Friday, March 13, 2015 at 6:15 A.M. at the St. Landry Extended Care Hospital in Opelousas. . Funeral services will be held at The First Baptist Church of Pine Prairie on Monday, March 16, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Burial will follow in the Reed Cemetery with Pastor Keith Sheridan officiating.
Blackie as known by many is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dianna Tate Fontenot of Mamou, two sons, Jerry "Sunny"Fontenot, Jr. of Mamou and Joshua Fontenot and wife, Dawn Padon of Baltimore, Maryland and one daughter, Jessica Fontenot and husband, Michael also of Mamou.
He is also survived by the apples of his eye, his four precious grandchildren, Jacob Williams, Katie Fontenot, Justine and Emily Fontenot.
He will now reunite in Heaven with his parents, Adam and Adelaide Fontenot and his siblings, Brad, Morris and Verline Fontenot. They surely await his arrival with open arms and joyous hearts
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Sunday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.at
The First Baptist Church of Pine Prairie and again on Monday morning, from 9:00 A.M. until 11:00 A.M.
