It is with great sadness that the family of John Stanley Ortego, 71, announces his passing on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at Lafayette General Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anns Catholic Church of Mamou at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 29, 2012. Rite of Committal will follow in the Ortego Cemetery with Fr. Mark Melancon officiating.
A devoted father, grandfather and brother, John leaves behind one daughter: Rebecca Dupre and her husband, Scott, of Ville Platte and his memory will most certainly be cherished by his two grandchildren: Brandon Ortego and Courtney Dupre. They were truly the light of his life. He will be sadly missed by his three siblings: Robert Ortego of Chicot, Joe Ortego of Chataignier, and Margaret Benoit of Opelousas.
He will now join in Heaven his beloved wife, Olicia Jane Ortego and his parents, Juslin and Margaret Ardoin Ortego. He will also reunite with his son, Mitchell Oretgo and two sisters, Willie Mae Ortego Smith, and Mary Juanita Ortego Buller two brothers, James B.Ortego and John Floyd Ortego and two infant brothers, Joseph Ortego and Juslin Ortego They await his arrival with open arms and joyous arms.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home of Mamou beginning at 11:00 AM Friday, September 28, 2012 and continuing until the time of the service Saturday. A Rosary will be recited in his honor Friday evening at 6:00 PM.
