Joycelyn Fontenot

MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Friday, December 10, 2021, for Joycelyn Richard Fontenot, 83, who passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, in Rayne, Louisiana. Father Bala Rayapati will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services. Burial will take place in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Joycelyn Richard Fontenot was born on February 19, 1938, in Mamou, LA to Sam and Lillie Hebert Richard.  Joycelyn was a devout Catholic and longtime parishioner of St. Ann’s Catholic Church.  She enjoyed spending time with the Lord by going to Adoration. She was wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother.  Her devotion to her family was apparent every day.  This is where she left her legacy of faith in God and love for all. Joycelyn had a love for children and spent most of her life babysitting.  She also enjoyed cooking, sewing, and gardening.   She will be deeply missed by her family, friends and all who knew her.

She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Raines and husband, Dale of Olive Branch, MS; son, Joseph Llewellyn Fontenot and wife, Angie of Rayne; four grandchildren, Skeet Fontenot and wife, Julie, Carmen Louviere and husband, Joshua, Kevin Heath and wife, Robbie and Chris Heath and wife, Crystal; eleven great grandchildren; sister, Sheryl Gillard and husband, Eddie of Opelousas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sam and Lillie Hebert Richard; husband, Llewellyn Fontenot; brother, Larry Richard; and sister, Bernella Richard.

At the request of the family, visitation will be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Friday, December 10, 2021, from 10:00 AM until time of service at 2PM.  A rosary will be recited on Friday at 12:30 PM.
