Judith Rougeau

MAMOU – Funeral services will be held at a 2:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Monday, March 21, 2022 for Judith Ann Rougeau, 67, who passed away at her residence on Friday, March 18, 2022.

Father Balah will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.

Rite of Committal will take place in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery in Mamou.

Judith Ann Rougeau was born on May 4, 1954 in Opelousas, Louisiana to Julius and Carol Manuel Sonnier.  Judith was a loving and caring person which led her to a career as a Special Education teacher.  In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening and watching things grow.  Judith was known as a very strong person which is what enabled her to be   four time cancer survivor.  Her greatest joy in life was that of loving and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  Judith will be greatly missed by those who knew her and she will live forever in their hearts.

Judith is survived by her daughter, Amanda Lynne Rougeau of Chatagnier; three grandchildren, Dalen James Romero, Collin Anthony Romero, and Kyia Lynne Gallow; and three brothers, Reginald Sonnier of Basile, Damon Sonnier of Basile, and Jason Sonnier and wife, Kim of Prairieville.  She is also survived by her significant other Wendell Nolan Manuel.

Judith is preceded in death by her parents, Julius and Carol Manuel Sonnier; husband, Dale Anthony Rougeau; and brothers, Donald Sonnier and Kenneth Sonnier.

At the request of the family, visitation will take place at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Sunday, March 20 from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM.  Visitation will resume Monday beginning at 8:00 AM until time of service.  A rosary will be prayed in her honor Sunday evening at 5:00 PM and will be led by Deacon Gary Gaudin.
