It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Julius Pete Thomas, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, who passed away on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Born on July 19, 1934, Julius lived a life marked by dedication to his family, hard work, and a profound love for the land. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Ceasar Cemetery with Father Massie officiating services.
Julius was known for his unwavering spirit and remarkable work ethic. He dedicated over 30 years of his life to Evangeline Gas before retirement, where he ran gas lines, while also tending to his beloved farms. He took great pride in nurturing the land, cultivating crops such as potatoes and corn, and caring for his animals, including pigs, chickens, cows and sheep. His hands worked tirelessly, ensuring that every row was straight, a testament to his commitment to the life he built.
He will be deeply missed by the mother of his children, Lorine Thomas; his children, Ricky Thomas and wife, Valerie of Opelousas, Phyllis Fontenot and husband, Ricky of Mamou and Lisa Thomas Fontenot and husband, Gregory of Reddell; his stepson, Danny Barlow. Julius also leaves behind a legacy of love through his grandchildren, Felicia Thomas, Angel Bradley, Brandon Fontenot, Megan Thibodeaux, Jeremy Thomas, Creshonda Thomas, Logan Thomas, Chloe Fontenot, Katie Thomas, and Nicole Thomas, as well as 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Julius was preceded in death by his parents, Dallas Thomas and Octavia Noel; his former wife, Ramona Thomas; his son, Jeran “Bobby” Thomas, as well as numerous brothers and sisters.
He is remembered fondly as a man whose strength and kindness touched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Visitation will take place at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Saturday, February 8, 2025, beginning at 8:00 AM with a Rosary being prayed in his honor at 10:00 AM.
