Services celebrating the life of Kern J. Fontenot will be held at 2:30 PM on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou. Burial will follow in New St. Ann's Cemetery, Mamou.
Visitation will be at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM and resume on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 from 10:00 AM until time of service. A rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 6:00 PM.
Kern J. Fontenot, 71, of Pineville (formerly of Mamou), passed from this life on Monday, October 19, 2015 peacefully at home.
Through Kern's life he was a farmer, worked off shore, was a salesman, and finally retired as a crane operator from ATS Drilling in Texas. He loved to laugh and spend time with his family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bruce and Hattie Fontenot and niece, Marie Fontenot.
He is survived by his children, Jonathan Fontenot (Brenda) of Opelousas, Darrel Fontenot (Debbie) of Foley, AL, Mike Fontenot (Jessica) of Mamou, Troy Fontenot (Anne) and Anna Fontenot of Pineville, and Chris Fontenot and Liz Fontenot of Texas, brother Roderick, sisters, Abigail and Phoebe all of Mamou, 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other loved ones.
The family would like to extend a very special Thank You to his nurses from St. Joseph's Hospice, Rachel and Jennifer. Also to Dolly and Irvin Douzart for taking time to visit with him each week.
