Leola "LaLa" Fontenot Bertrand

Leola F “LaLa” Bertrand, 93 passed away on 17 August, 2023.

She was born 26 June, 1930.

Leola “LaLa” Bertrand was a devout Catholic and member of

St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou. She routinely volunteered

her services at St. Francis and the Savoy Care Center. No matter how hard she worked she was always ready to help family and friends in need. In her leisure she enjoyed camping trips with her husband, gardening and get-togethers with family and friends. Besides her family and friends she greatly loved her little Chihuahua, “Tiny” plus the many stray cats that she felt she had to feed when they showed up on her steps.

LaLa is survived by her only daughter Brenda Goodson and husband James of Lake Charles; brother: James Fontenot and wife Cora of Mamou; sister; Dorothy LeJeune of Lake Charles. She is also survived by four step-grandchildren; seven step great grandchildren; and eight step great great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Harold Bertrand; parents: Walton and Lula Fontenot; eight brothers; Rayford, Leo, Walton Jr., Robert, Walter and Wilson; one sister; Mayola.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Grand Cove Nursing Facility and Harbor Hospice in Lake Charles for their compassionate care.

Visitation will be held on Monday, August 21 2023 at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou begining at 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM.  A rosary will be recited at 1:00 which will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 2:00 PM at St. Ann's Catholic Church.

Funeral services have been entrusted to Ardoin's Funeral Home of Mamou with burial at New St. Ann’s Cemetery also in Mamou.
