MAMOU - Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial for Leroy Ortego, 90, at St. Ann's Catholic Church on Friday, November 24, 2017, who passed away on Wednesday, November 22 at his residence.
Father Billy Massie, Pastor at St. Ann's Catholic Church, will be conducting all funeral services.
Rite of Committal will take place at New St. Ann's Cemetery.
Leroy, was a Rabbit hunter and loved to fish with hoop nets. Mr. Ortego owned and operated Ortego's Slaughter House for 40 years.
His memories will live on through his family. Leroy is survived by his two daughters, Sherran Vidrine and husband, Edward and Cathy Berza and husband, James all of Mamou; 6 grandchildren, Shawn McDaniel and Jacoby Berza, Angela Verrette, Melanie Berzas, Rachel Guillory and Naomi Reed. 23 great-grandchildren and 10 great- great grandchildren.
Leroy is preceded in death by his wife, Berthaline Ortego and his parents.
The family request that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home of Mamou on Thursday, November 23, 2017 from 3:00 PM until 10:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on Thursday by Deacon Chuck Ortego. Visitation will resume Friday, November 24, 2017 from 8:00 AM until time of service.
