MAMOUIt is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Lionel Fontenot announces his passing on Friday, November 23, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was 63. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Mamou with Father Mark Melancon Celebrant. Interment will follow in the New St. Anns Mausoleum.
Lionel loved and cherished his family and friends which brought a great deal of joy to his life. He loved being on his farm. He leaves behind a loving and grateful family including his wife of 43 years, Linda Israel Fontenot of Mamou one son, Lance Fontenot and wife Betty of Mamou two daughters, Melissa Ray and husband Richard of Eunice, and Kim Futrell and husband Dustin of Pollock three brothers, Rodney Fontenot and wife Deola, Brent Fontenot and wife Cindy, and Tony Fontenot all of Pine Prairie two sisters, Martha Boudreaux and husband, Glenn of Scott, and Faye Comeau and husband George of Lafayette. Eight grandchildren, Brandon Marcantel and wife Kristyn, Riley Marcantel, Ashtyn Fontenot, Alyssa Fontenot , Austin Futrell, Caden Futrell, Lainey Futrell, and Myles Futrell. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Lionel now rest in Heaven with his beloved parents,Atney and Lena Fontenot.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Mamou on Saturday, November 24, 2012 from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm. A Rosary will be recited at 9:00 am Saturday morning. Friends may view the obituary andor sign the guestbook online at www.ardoinfuneralhomes.com.
