Louis Joseph Landreneau, Sr. was born in Pine Point on August 18, 1943, to Alcee Allen and Eugenia Ancelet Landreneau. Louis served proudly in the United States Air Force 4 years on active duty and 10 years in the Reserves. He was a Vietnam Veteran and member of the American Legion. He continued his flying overseas and lived in Saudi Arabia for 20 years as a flight engineer and had over 33,000 hours of flight experience. He visited over 100 countries and shared his knowledge and international experience with his children and everyone he met. Upon retiring from flying, Louis returned home to this community and served as a Mardi Gras volunteer for many years as well as a farmer on the same land he was born on. He was always telling jokes and making people laugh-and welcomed into his home blended family members who were his own. He loved Cajun music and culture-and food! -and was a patron of Fred's Lounge for many years. His children feel blessed at all he did for them and how he loved, supported, and accepted them no matter what. His final years were here in Mamou, the place he loved most in the world, and he was tenderly cared for by his oldest daughter, Anne, in the twilight of his life. His final flight was from Mamou to heaven.
Louis is survived by his son Louis J. "Joe" Landreneau, Jr. of Columbia, South Carolina; daughters Anne Marie Percy and husband Robert, and Julie Irene Landreneau both of Charleston, South Carolina, and brother Alcee Allen Landreneau, Jr. of Norfolk, Virginia. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his seven grandchildren: Brittany Percy, Kayla Percy, Baleigh Landreneau, Revon Landreneau, Skylar Landreneau, Dustin Baxley, and Ryan Baxley.
Louis is predeceased by his parents Alcee Allen and Eugenia Ancelet Landreneau, brother Harold Landreneau, Sr. and sisters George Ann Pettit and Doris L. Fontenot
