MAMOU – It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Bernadine Boutte on Sunday, July 14, 2024, at her residence in Mamou, LA. She was surrounded by love and comfort as she peacefully departed this world at the age of 87. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Ann’s Catholic Church. Burial will follow at New St. Ann’s Mausoleum. Father Massie will serve as Celebrant over the funeral service.
Born on April 14, 1937, Bernadine’s warm and caring nature touched the lives of all who knew her. She dedicated many years to serving others at Ville Platte Hospital, in the Dietary Department, where she left a lasting impact through her kindness and compassion.
She found joy in simple pleasures, particularly spending time with her grandchildren, playing card games, crafting Christmas candies, and embarking on adventures to Canada, France, Mexico and Rome. Bernadine’s love for Cajun music and French culture added vibrant hues to her rich personality, ensuring she left lasting impressions on all who crossed her path.
Bernadine beloved husband, J.C. Boutte, preceded her in death in 2018 after 62 years of love and companionship. The legacy of love, kindness, and unwavering care that Bernadine leaves behind will endure in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her. A devoted mother and grandmother, Bernadine found solace in family, and her role as a caretaker brought her the greatest pride and happiness throughout her life.
She will be deeply missed by her son, Keith Boutte and spouse, Linda Boutte of Mamou; her four grandchildren, Shane Boutte (Dwana) of Eastin, LA, Brian Boutte, Corey Boutte (Felecia) of Mamou, LA, Haley Drummond (Corey) of Mamou, LA; her five great-grandchildren, Shaina Boutte, Alaina Boutte, Cain Boutte, Chloe and Mason Drummond; and her bonus grandchild, Chris Cook.
Bernadine was preceded in death by her parents, Addie and Vivian Brignac Deshotel.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects, reminisce, and honor the memory of a remarkable woman. A visitation will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home of Mamou on Tuesday, July 16, 2024, beginning at 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, with a Rosary being prayed in her honor at 6:00 pm. Visitation will resume on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 8:00 am until the time of service.
