Funeral Services will be held at a 2:00PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Pine Prairie on Saturday, February 23, 2019, for Mary Louetta Savoie, 83, who passed away on February 21, 2019 in Pine Prairie, LA.
Father Kenneth Mayne, pastor of St. Peter's Catholic Church, will be celebrant of the mass and will conduct funeral services.
Burial will take place in Fontenot Cemetery.
Mary Louetta Savoie was born in Pine Prairie, LA on August 22, 1935 to Edward Joseph LeBas and Emily Theresa Fontenot. Born and raised in Pine Prairie, Mary enjoyed serving her community. She was instrumental in the development of the girls' softball program in Pine Prairie. Mary also served many years on the Boggy Bayou Festival Board. She was employed at Guaranty Bank for over 30 years. Mary will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Leroy Joseph Savoie; two daughters, Stephanie Savoie Dardeau and husband Mark of Sulphur, La and Christina Savoie Soileau and husband Nick of Mamou; five grandchildren, Maria Dardeau of Sulphur, Erica Dardeau Tunks and husband Garrett of Sulphur, Cody Dardeau of Houston, TX, Maggie Soileau Pierrottie and husband Seth of Vidrine and Emily Soileau of Mamou; five great grandchildren, Aerianna and Masyn Dardeau, Emma and Gabriel Tunks and Rhett Pierrottie; seven sisters, Faye Fontenot and husband Jeanor of Ville Platte, Charlene Rougeau of Pine Prairie, Theresa Hayden and husband LJ of Pine Prairie, Gail Fontenot and husband Wilfred of Pine Prairie, Veronica Duos of Pine Prairie, Jane Deville and husband Alexandre of Pine Prairie and Joan Fuselier of Pine Prairie and brother-in-law, Lloyd Legendre of River Ridge, La.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Joseph Edward "Pecan" LeBas and his wife, Marie Ann Fontenot; one sister, Mary Jean Legendre; four brother-in-laws, Kermit Wayne Rougeau, Sr., James Leon Baughman, Frankie Allen Fuselier and Michael James Duos.
The family requests that visitation be observed at St. Peter's Catholic Church of Pine Prairie on Friday, February 22, 2019 from 4:00 PM to 10:00 PM. A rosary will be recited on Friday at 6:00PM. Visitation will resume on Saturday from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
