MAMOU - It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Melissa Gail Steffen, 60 announces her passing on September 11, 2017 at 12:05 p.m. at her residence after a Courageous Battle with Cancer.
Melissa loved western movies with Tex Ritter and John Wayne. She was a graduate and Valedictorian of Coreil College of Lafayette with a degree in Accounting.
Melissa will be sincerely missed by all that knew and loved her especially her husband, Craig Steffen; her mother, Betty Ritter Dubois; one son, Texster Ritter and fiancé', Ashley Dupre; one brother, Roderick Ritter; three grandchildren, Dylan Scott Ritter and Jordan Danielle Ritter and Kelsey Uhlman; her aunt, Sharon Guidry, Uncle Ralph Miller and one niece, Natocha Ritter. She will also be missed by her Fur Baby, Sheba.
She was preceded in death by her dad, Kinsey Ritter and one brother, Damon ‘Tuffy" Ritter.
A celebration of Melissa's life will begin September 19, 2017 at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m.The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. until time of services at 11:00 a.m.. Funeral services will be held in the Ardoin Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Melissa will be laid to rest in the Cole Cemetery in Dequincy.
