MAMOU It is with great sadness that the family Mercedes Trahan Cargill, 65, announces her passing Sunday, January 15, 2012 at Christus St. John Hospital in Nassau Bay, Texas after a short illness. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 PM Friday, January 20, 2012 at St. Anns Catholic Church of Mamou. Rite of Committal will follow in the Reed Cemetery, also in Mamou Father Mark Melancon will officiate the services.
Mercedes leaves behind her devoted husband, George Cargill of Shore Acres, Texas. She was a loving mother to her three children: her only son, Willie Trahan of Duson and her two daughters, Elizabeth Trahan of Franklin and Dawn Dupree of Gibson. Her memory will also be cherished by her step daughter, Lacey Sims of Deer Park, Texas and her mother in law, Elizabeth Cargill of Longview, Texas. She is also survived by her precious grandchildren: Jerrel and Dylan Boling, Tausha Klink and Jenny Plessala, her step grand daughters: Brittany, Kirsten and Stacia Sims and three great grandsons, Haven and Jathan Klink and Bentley Plessala. Mercedes will be sadly missed by her only God daughter, Dawn Garcia of Austin, Texas and her siblings, Johnny Reed of Crowley, Kenneth Reed of Mamou, Edie Faye Granger of Reddell and Carrie Mae Reed of Pine Prairie. She also leaves behind two aunts, Hernie Mae LeJeune of Basile and Audrey Murphy of Lake Charles, two nieces, Angela Ducote and Melissa Holford, two nephews, Zachery and Tyler Brignac and three great nieces, Danielle Fontenot, Heidi and Amber Ducote.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Willie Trahan, her beloved parents, Evans and Bertha Reed, her father in law, Van Cargill, her grandparents, Teogene Granger and Aurere Deshotel, one brother, Winston Reed, one sister, Shelia Dean Lay and four uncles, Gaston Granger, Merris Granger, Elton Granger and Herman Granger. They await her arrival with joyous hearts and open arms.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home in Mamou, beginning at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 20, 2012 and continuing until time of the services.
