MAMOU It is with great sadness that the family of Nelman Ray Slim Fusilier, 83, announces his passing on January 16, 2010 at 3:00 pm at Ville Platte Medical Center following a lengthy illness. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at 10:00 am at St. Anns Catholic Church in Mamou, Louisiana. Rite of committal will follow in the Platin Cemetery in Ville Platte.
Mr. Fusilier resided in Mamou from 1926 until 1959, in Kaplan from 1959 until 1985, then in Camden, Tennessee from 1985 until 1994 when he retired to Reddell. A loving husband, father, and grandfather he will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 65 years, Lou Ella Fontenot Fusilier, two sons Craig Fusilier and wife Rita of Camden, TN and Cody Fusilier of Opelousas, one daughter Roxi Fusilier Roy and husband Nick of Lake Arthur, ten grandchildren Cherie Fusilier Benoit, Scott Fusilier, Clancy Fusilier Greenburg, Darcy Fusilier, Allison Fusilier Brown, Jon Fusilier, Brooke Roy Butaud, Joshua Roy, Meghan Roy Stelly, and Carly Roy and seventeen great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents Arthur Fusilier and Sedonia Guillory Fusilier.
Family request that visiting hours be observed Monday, January 18, 2010 from 12:00 pm until time of service. A rosary will be recited on Monday evening at 6:30 pm.
