MamouA beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, Oran Laughlin Sr. will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Oran died on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his loved ones. He was 78. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Monday, October 11, 2010 at St. Anns Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of Committal will follow in the New St. Anns Cemetery with Father Mark Melancon Celebrant.
Oran a resident of Mamou serviced his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was retired from the oilfield as a tool pusher. After retirement he enjoyed working as a school crossing guard, camping, cooking and gardening.
He leaves behind a loving and grateful family including his wife of 61 years, Merzie I. Laughlin of Mamou his three sons, Gerald Laughlin and wife, Lanie of Deridder, Harold Laughlin and companion, Anna Lafleur of Ville Platte and Oran Laughlin Jr. and wife, Dee Ann of Lafayette his daughter, Patricia LeDoux and husband, Ronnie of Youngsville twelve grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
Now he rests in Heaven with his beloved parents, Odess and Jaucin LeBleu Laughlin.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home of Mamou on Sunday, October 10th from 5:30 pm until 10:00 pm and again on Monday, October 11th from 8:00 am until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm Sunday evening.
