MAMOU- It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Bob Fontenot, 81, announces his passing on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 11:23 A.M. at Pelican Pointe Nursing Home in Maurice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. Rite of Committal will follow in the Reed Cemetery with Father Thainese as Celebrant.
Bob was an Oil Field Entrepreneur. He loved fishing, hunting and loved and owned Racehorses. He served in the U.S. Army and was a Korean Veteran. He loved being with his family, outdoors and Life.
He is survived by his five children, ,William Fontenot and wife, Jolene of Youngsville, Todd Fontenot and wife, Gwen of Maurice, Valerie F.Tweedel of Oberlin, Lynn Wilson and husband, Jim of Lanse Meg and Rella Romero and husband, Ritchie of Maurice; two sisters, Rella Bertrand and husband, Horace of Lafayette and Geraldine "Jerry" Guillory; fourteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
Bob will now reunite in Heaven with his wife, Loretta Jane Manuel Fontenot, his parents, Bill and Eva Johnise Fontenot, one son, Nick Fontenot, one daughter, Gail Reed, one granddaughter Krystle Reed and one great grandson Noah Michael. They surely await his arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
The family extends their gratitude to the nurses and staff of 3 rd floor and ICU at Lafayette General Medical Center and St. Joseph Hospice and Pelican Pointe Nursing Home Staff.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Monday from 12:00 noon until 9:00 P.M.. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M. on Monday The funeral home will reopen at 8:00 A.M. on Tuesday until time of services.
