MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou on Wednesday, May 2, 2018, for Priscilla Lena Marcantel Tate, 77, who passed away on Saturday, April 28, 2018 in Mamou, La.
Father Billy Massie, pastor of St. Ann's Catholic Church, will conduct the funeral services.
Burial will take place in the New St. Ann's Cemetery in Mamou.
Priscilla Marcantel Tate, a lifelong resident of Mamou, was born April 21, 1941 to Kirby and Ita Marcantel. She worked as a purchasing Agent for Savoy Medical Center for 23 years and after her retirement at the hospital, she worked five years at the St. Francis Center. One of Priscilla's greatest accomplishments in life was being an excellent mother to her two sons and daughter. Her absolute favorite hobby was that of cheering on the New Orleans Saints. Priscilla was a faithful and devoted fan both through the good years and the bad.
Priscilla is survived by her husband of 35 years, Allen Ray Tate, sons Brook Chapman and wife Sally of Mamou and Shanon Chapman of Ville Platte, and brother Danzel Marcantel and wife Barbara. Also left behind to cherish her memory are her eight grandchildren: Ferryl, Alex, Brent, Jenna, Joni, Christopher, Harold, Wyatt and 13 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her first husband Donald Chapman, parents, Kirby and Ita Marcantel, daughter Shaney Lee Morein, and her brothers Manford and Elbert Marcantel.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 9:00 PM. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM, by Deacon Chuck Ortego. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of service.
