MAMOU It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of Renston Joseph Deshotel, Jr., 47, announces his passing from this world to take his place in the next. Joe, as he was known to all, passed away at his home Tuesday, January 14, 2014. A Funeral of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 PM Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Ardoins Funeral Home Chapel of Mamou burial will follow in the First Baptist Cemetery in Mamou with Deacon Gary Gaudin as Celebrant.
A devoted husband, father, son, brother and uncle, Joe leaves behind his beloved wife of ten years, Vanessa Perron Deshotel of Mamou and his two precious daughters: Krystal Paige Deshotel and Mollie Beth Deshotel, also of Mamou. He will be deeply mourned by his parents, Renston J. Deshotel, Sr. and Jenny Deshotel of Mamou and his two sisters, Leisa Deshotel and her husband, Johhny of Mamou and Tiffany Deshotel and her companion, Rusty LaFleur of Reddell. His memory will be carried on by his nieces and nephews: Brandon, Andrew, Meghan, Chelsi and Macy and his great nieces and nephews: Landry, Chesley, Emma, Sophia, Kynleigh and Ashton. Joe was also a devoted Godfather to Ferryl Deshotel II, Chelsi Gautreaux and Meghan Fusilier his loving influence will be treasured for years to come.
Joe was not only a dedicated family man but he also committed the better part of his adult life to serving his community. He was Ward 3 Constable, part time deputy for the Evangeline Parish Sheriffs Department, Warrant Officer and Inmate Supervisor for the Town of Mamou and a past member of the Mamou Volunteer Fire Department. His bravery and hard work were recognized by his fellow firemen and officers he was named Fireman of the Year in 1995 and Policeman of the Year in 2009 and 2010. His loss will be deeply felt by all whom were lucky enough to have had Joe watch their backs.
At the request of the Deshotel family, visitation will take place at Ardoins Funeral Home of Mamou beginning at 3:00 PM Tuesday, January 14, 2014 and will continue until the time of the service Wednesday. A Rosary will be recited in his honor at 6:30 PM Tuesday evening.
