Rita V. Pierrottie was born on Wednesday, November 3, 1937, in Mamou, Louisiana and passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 6, 2025, in her beloved hometown of Mamou. Rita was a devoted cosmetologist and massage therapist, known not only for her expert hands but also for her nurturing spirit, which truly made her a caregiver at heart.

A proud 1955 graduate of Mamou High School, Rita lived a life filled with joy and community engagement. She, along with her husband, were the owners and operators of Rita and Gilly's Grocery Store.

Rita found immense happiness in the traditions of Cajun culture, evident in her cherished memories of dancing at Fred's Lounge every Saturday. Rita was often recognized as the unofficial hostess after her dear friend, "Tante Sue," welcoming friends and strangers alike into a vibrant community filled with music and warmth.

Rita's commitment to service extended beyond her professional life; she was an active volunteer and played a significant role in the St. Frances Resale Store, helping those in need. Her contributions were not only felt locally but also served to preserve her beloved Cajun heritage, as she proudly held the title of the oldest alumni of the Cajun Music Festival.

Among her hobbies, Rita loved walking and had a particular fondness for counting the figs on her tree, a simple joy that brought her peace. Her personality radiated kindness, and she touched the lives of many with her genuine care and compassion.

Rita is survived by her sons, Bryon "Grease" Pierrottie and his wife, Neili and Barry Pierrottie. She also leaves behind her granddaughter, Nikkita Pierrottie, who will always cherish her memory and her legacy of love and warmth.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Carrol "Gilly" Pierrottie; her parents, Hadley "Popeye" Vezinat and Sally Vidrine Vezinat; and her sister, Becky Perrron.

Rita V. Pierrottie will be remembered as a beacon of light in the Mamou community, whose generous spirit and dedication to others will continue to inspire all those who had the privilege to know her.
