MAMOU It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that the family of, Rodney Fontenot, 84 announce his passing on Friday, August 15, 2014 at 3:05 p.m. at his residence in Baton Rouge. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Anns Catholic Church in Mamou. Rite of Committal will follow in the New St. Anns Mausoleum.
Rodney was a Grand Knight of Knights of Columbus in Mamou and was a Volunteer Fireman. He was also an Honorary Fireman.
A loving husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather, brother and friend, Rodney leaves behind , his wife of 59 years, Anita Soileau Fontenot: two children, Aaron Fontenot and wife Mona of Dallas, Tx, and Carla Verges and husband Creighton of Baton Rouge one sister, Beverly McBride and husband, Bill of Mamou. He was further blessed with six grandchildren, Cade Verges and wife, Lizzy, Cary Verges and wife, Amy, Caylin Verges, Ian Fontenot and wife, Jessica, Mia and Claire Fontenot one greatgrandchild, Carter Verges They were the absolute light of his life.
Pallbearers are, Cade Verges, Cary Verges, Ian Fontenot, Phil Vanderhider, Jr, Bill McBride, Rene Hebert, Dr. Herman Soong and Bruno Alexandre
His granddaughters will bring the offerings and gifts .
He will now rest in Heaven with his parents, Hadley Gus and Nita Fontenot and one daughter, Judalane Fontenot. They surely await his arrival with open arms and joyous hearts.
At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoins Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services. A Rosary will be recited at 2:30 p.m. Family and friends may view the online obituary and sign the guestbook at www.ardoinfuneralhomes.com.
