Mamou~It is with the heaviest hearts that the family of Ronnie James Deshotel, resident of Mamou, announces his passing on Sunday, April 9, 2017 at the age of 69. He died peacefully at his home with his loving family by his side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, April 12,2017 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Mamou, LA. Rite of Committal will follow in the Veillon Family Cemetery.

Mr. Ronnie was a dedicated instructor at the S.L.C.C T.H. Harris Campus in Opelousas, LA. He worked diligently for 23 years. Mr. Deshotel also served in the Louisiana National Guard. Above all, the real joy of his life was being surrounded by his family and friends.

Mr. Ronnie will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him especially his loving wife, Floretta Veillon Deshotel of Mamou; his two daughters, Tanya Fuselier and husband, Mark of Mamou, and Shannen Harper and husband, Brian Harper of Carencro; his brothers, Rickie Deshotel and wife, Lorraine of Evangeline, and Michael Deshotel and wife, Valerie of Evangeline, his mother, Lena LeBleu, and his grandchildren the seven joys of his life.

He is preceded in death by his father, Hillery Deshotel; his step father, Cline LeBleu; and his brother, Robert "Bobby" Deshotel; and his beloved dog and son, Kipper.

At the request of the family, visitation will be held at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou on Tuesday, April 11th from 9:00am until 10:00 pm and again on Wednesday, April 12th from 8:00 am until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017.
