Sandra Darlene Nacquin

MAMOU – It is with great sadness that the family of Sandra Darlene Nacquin announces her passing on Saturday, December 16, 2023 in Opelousas at the age of 59.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou at 2:00 PM.  Burial will follow in the Reed Cemetery.

Sandra Darlene Nacquin was born on March 9, 1964, in Mamou, Louisiana to Estavia McGee and Rose Cassels McGee. Sandra was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.  Sandra had a warm-hearted and compassionate nature that touched the lives of many including her special needs students that she worked with for 25 years. Her greatest joy was that of being a devoted homemaker who found joy in caring for her family.

In addition to being a loving wife and mother, Sandra had many interests and hobbies. She had a passion for sewing and embroidery which allowed her to create beautiful works of art that will be treasured forever. Arts and crafts were also activities she enjoyed immensely.  Playing games with her family brought Sandra great joy; she always played with fierce determination and managed to win most of the time! Her competitive spirit combined with endless laughter created unforgettable memories for all.

Sandra will be remembered as a woman of grace and strength. Her warmth touched the hearts of everyone she met. She leaves behind a loving family who will strive to carry on her legacy.   Sandra Darlene Nacquin touched our lives with love, kindness, and an unwavering spirit. Her memory will forever live on in our hearts. May she rest in eternal peace.

Sandra was married to and is survived by the love of her life, Ricky Nacquin.  Having been married for 42 years, their enduring love and partnership were an inspiration to all.  As a mother, Sandra's love knew no bounds. She took great pride in raising her two children with unconditional love and support. Her daughter, Cherie Nacquin Reinagel and husband, Raymond of Mamou and son, Shawn Nacquin and wife, Ashley of Alexandria meant the world to her.

Sandra had a special place in her heart for her seven grandchildren: Travis, Tory, Destiney, Nicholas, Xander, Braylen, and Autumn. They were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them.  Her heart would melt every time she heard them call her “Grammy”.  Sandra is also survived by her brothers, Gerald McGee and wife, Lori of Raceland, Kenneth McGee and wife, Martha of Georgia, and Donald McGee of Georgia; and sisters, Debra Girod and Rebecca Reed both of Olla.

She is preceded in death by her father, Estavia McGee and mother, Rose Cassels McGee.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. A funeral service will follow at the same location at 2:00 PM. The burial will take place at Reed Cemetery in Mamou at 3:00 PM.
