Mamou- Funeral services , for Shirley J. Marcantel will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2006 at 3:00 pm at St. Anns Catholic Church . Burial will follow in the New St. Anns Cemetery. Father Pius Vallooran will preside over the services.

Mr. Marcantel, a resident of Mamou died on December 24, 2006 at Savoy Care Center in Mamou. He was a Korean Veteran. He was also a retired operator at Transco and a retired Mud Engineer in the oilfield.

Survivors include three daughters, Sandra Prather husband, Mark, of Eunice, Delana Miller Fiance, Curtis Hall of Scott, and Denise Dickinson husband, John, of Carencro, three step-daughters, Sandra Rider husband, Richard, of Baton Riuge, Linda Fontenot husband, Lionel, of Mamou, and Susan Rafferty husband, Don, of Pass Christian , Ms. one step-son, Clienus JR Israel wife, Sheryl of Eunice. Two sisters, Barbara Lejeune husband , Johnny of Eunice, and Lena Gray of Eunice. He also survived by seven grandchildren, twelve step-grandchildren, and twelve step-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sostan Edna Marcantel; his wife, Julie Marcantel; a sister, Elta Mae Cosper; on step-son-James Israel.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 26, 2006 from 10 am until 10 pm Wednesday, December 27, 2006 8 am until time of services. A rosary will be held at 7 pm on Tuesday. There will also be a VFW service.
