MAMOU – A final concert will be held at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Thursday, August 20, 2020 at 2:00 PM in remembrance of Stephen Craig LaFleur, 62, who passed away on Sunday, August 9, 2020 in Eunice.
Burial will take place in the New St. Ann’s Cemetery following the concert.
Stephen Craig LaFleur was born on April 29, 1958 in Mamou, Louisiana to Raymond and Helen LaFleur. Stephen loved to entertain with his music and did so since the 80’s. He was a singer, songwriter, and musician who played the bass guitar, fiddle, and lead guitar. Stephen incorporated his love for rock and cajun music into “Cajun Rock” and was the lead member of the band “Mamou”. He performed both nationally and internationally including the New York Theater. Among his accomplishments are acquiring a recording contract with MCA records and playing in a movie. Stephen shared his love for music with his family and friends. Although he will be greatly missed, his music will live on.
Stephen is survived by his mother, Helen LaFleur of Mamou; one daughter, Holly LaFleur of Eunice; two sons, Christopher Paul LaFleur of Metairie and Michael James LaFleur of Redell; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; one sister, Tammy LaFleur of Opelousas; and one brother David LaFleur of Mamou.
He is preceded in death by his father, Raymond LaFleur.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin’s Funeral Home in Mamou on Thursday, August 20, 2020 beginning at 12:00 PM. Stephen’s band will perform a final concert at 2:00 PM to honor his memory.
