Veniter Joyce Duplechin

MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at a 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Mamou on Monday, September 6, 2021, for Veniter Joyce Duplechin, 92, who passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 4, 2021, surrounded by her loving family.

Father Bala Rayapati will be celebrant of the Mass and will conduct funeral services.

Burial will take place in New St. Ann’s Cemetery.

Veniter Joyce Duplechin was born on February 7, 1929, in Durald, Louisiana to D.H. and Amy Ardoin Veillon.  Joyce worked as a care giver for many years. She loved sewing, crocheting, gardening, cooking, and shopping.  Joyce’s greatest joy was that of spending time with her family.  She is most remembered for being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  They will miss her greatly and will cherish the memories they shared forever.  Her love and laughter will be dearly missed.

Joyce is survived by her four daughters, Gwen Duplechin Hillis of Scott, Tessie Duplechin Odom and husband, Robert of Mamou, Madrina Duplechin Pierrotti of Mamou, and Lori Duplechin Guillory and husband, Matt of Mamou; seven grandchildren, Shannon Chapman, Jacob Pierrotti, Zachary Hillis, Megan Fontenot, Linzie Huckaby, Logan Guillory, and Emma Guillory; seven great-grandchildren; and brother, Reevel C. Veillon and wife, Eulalie of Duson.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Willard “Buzz” Duplechin; and her parents, D. H. and Amy Ardoin Veillon.

At the request of the family, visitation will be observed on Sunday, September 5, 2021, from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM.  A rosary will be led by Deacon Gary Gaudin on Sunday at 6:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Monday, September 6, 2021, from 8:00 AM until time of service.
