Mamou It is with great sadness that the family of Verdie Johnson Marcantel, 86 announces her passing on Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Ville Platte Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anns Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in the Old St. Anns Cemetery with Fr. Bryce Sibilly Celebrant.br Verdie was a resident of High Point Community and had a special love for her children and grandchildren, some of the many hobbies that she enjoyed in life were baking, sewing, gardening, and crocheting. There was a special place in her life for growing flowers. A loving mother and grandmother, Verdie will be lovingly remembered by her two sons, Herschel Marcantel and his wife, Dorothy of Spring Prairie Community and Michael Mickey Marcantel and his wife, Margaret of Pineville; one daughter, Deborah Hoffpauir and her husband, Bill of High Point Community; eleven grandchildren, Glenn Marcantel and wife, Cindy, Donald Marcantel and wife, Anne, Angie Soileau and husband, Barry, Amanda Meche and husband, Steven, Sean Marcantel and wife, Simone, Todd Marcantel and wife, Donna, Mitch Marcantel, Michelle Marcantel, Brandon Hoffpauir and wife, Anna, Garrett Hoffpauir and wife, Kim, and Kayla Reed and husband, Kasey; twenty seven grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.br She is preceded in death by her husband, V.L. Marcantel, parents, C.C. and Eda Johnson, and a son, Donald Wayne Marcantel.br The family request that visiting hours be observed Friday, January 1, 2010 from 11:00 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. and again on Saturday, January 2, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Friday evening.br
