MAMOU~ Vernon W. Miller, 87, a native of Chataignier and a resident of Mamou died on Sunday, May 17, 2015 at his residence. Chapel services will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2015 at The Ardoin's Funeral Home Chapel in Mamou at 1:30 P.M. Burial will follow in the Old St. Ann's Cemetery with Deacon Gary Gaudin officiating.
Vernon spent his childhood in Chataignier. Served our Country in Germany for the reconstruction at the end of World War II. Was a very loyal employee and retired from Mobile Oil Company.
Vernon is survived by his wife of 65 years, Jency Deshotel of Mamou; four Children, Michael Miller and wife, Patricia of Denham Springs, Roxanne Miller of Houston, Karen Miller of St. Martinville and Gregory Miller and wife, Fara of New Roads; one brother, Roland Miller and wife, Nela of Chataignier and one sister, Elizabertha Forshag of Amite; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Everyone who knew him will miss his easy going spirit, humor and love of the simple joys of growing his own food, bare feet on hot summer days,
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M.on Tuesday evening by Deacon Chuck Ortego. The funeral home will reopen on Wednesday at 8:00 until time of services.
