MAMOU - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou on Thursday, November 1, 2018, for Wilda Guillory Chamberlain, 67, who passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018 in Mamou, LA.
Burial will take place in the Reed Cemetery in Mamou.
Wilda Guillory Chamberlain was born in Mamou, LA on April 21, 1951 to Savio Guillory and Aline Deshotel Guillory. Ms. Wilda served her community for many years. She served on the Mamou City Council for 10 years. After serving as city councilwoman she went on to become the first female Mayor of Mamou for 6 years. She also served on the BFI board. Ms. Wilda wore many hats besides serving her community she was a florist and enjoyed her flowers. She also enjoyed camping, playing cards, and cooking with friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband, Roy Chamberlain of Oakdale; two daughters, Bridgette Chamberlain Chapman and husband Christopher of Mamou and Kelly Chamberlain of Mamou; three grandchildren, Dylan Ritter, Jordan Ritter and Micah Chapman; one sister, Hazel Leger of Crosby, Tx; one brother, Donald Guillory and wife Mary Guillory of Crosby, Tx; sister in law, Helen Cook Guillory of Crosby, Tx; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
She is preceded by her parents; two sisters, Ethel Guillory and Bernella Guillory Marcotte; two brothers, Melvin Guillory and Glen Guillory.
The family requests that visitation be observed at Ardoin's Funeral Home in Mamou on Wednesday, October 31, 2018 from 10:00 AM until 10:00 PM. Visitation will continue Thursday from 8:00 AM until time of service.
