Yvonne Gillis was born in Church Point, Louisiana on April 22, 1937 to Ernest R. and Marie Celeste Bourgeois. Yvonne was raised in the small Louisiana town of Mamou. After doing well in school, she attended SLI (USL) and LSU majoring in Broadcast Journalism. Yvonne got her start in the industry as a DJ at KEUN Radio in Eunice then moved to WBRZ TV in Baton Rouge. She then entered the advertising profession by accepting a position at Maison Blanche and Godchaux’s Department Stores. After living in Baton Rouge, she moved to the Atlanta, Georgia area. While working for Rick’s Lazarus Media Company, Yvonne became the in house agency Broadcasting Director for the South Central Region for their new acquisition, Macy’s Department Stores until her retirement. By the grace of God and hard work and dedication on her part, Yvonne was able to live out her career dreams.
